About Jessy
Jessy Gomes Moreira is a multi-award-winning Occupational Safety and health leader with 15+ years of pan–European experience in France Spain and the UK.
As a pragmatic innovator, she has an extensive record of accomplishment of commercial success and development, including management of construction design, health and safety, processes, communications and people she is commercially astute with a results–focused attitude to health and safety, driven by strategic thinking and thought leadership for people across construction and engineering industry.
Jessy has provided smart quality, safety, health and environment (QSHE) solutions and outstanding on-site construction design management for engineering companies all over Europe. Her goal is to support and build smarter integrated organizational health and safety systems to improve the better construction and engineering sectors.
Qualifications, certification and associations
Jessy is a firm believer in continuous learning, development and training and her qualifcations include:
- A French Health and Safety and Quality Management Master’s degree and research,
- A member of the Chartered Health and Safety Practitioners (CMIOSH), Certified,
- A member of the Association for Project Safety (CMaPS); and an entrepreneur and equality and women career advancement advocate within the Workplace.
Jessy began studying for a PhD in 2020 at University College London’s Bartlett School with an occupational health focus.
Jessy is a long-standing chartered member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) the Chartered body and largest membership organisation for health and safety professionals. She is a former IOSH council member and also volunteered for the IOSH London Metropolitan brand for over 10 years.
An award-winning health and safety consultant
Jessy has won several notable health and safety awards including ‘The best woman in Health and Safety 2021’ awarded by WICE (Women in Construction and Engineering). She is also one of “The 40 under 40 outstanding health and safety professionals” as chosen by the International Institute of Risk & Safety Management (IIRSM) Health and Safety at Work Magazine.
She is part of the BPIC Network, a specialist diversity and inclusion-built environment network working to improve ethnic minority representation in construction and was shortlisted as an industry role model in its 2021 awards.
Jessy has also been recognised by the Safety and Health Practitioner (SHP) Awards as one of its most influential individuals in 2021 for successfully creating sound health and safety cultures in organisations and the profession at large.
Major project experience
Jessy has worked on a host of major projects across the UK including the £1bn London HQ for Goldman Sachs and the Hinkley Point C nuclear power plan project where she had complete ownership of the construction design and management.
Advocating for women in construction and engineering
Jessy’s first hand-experiences as a woman working in the construction sector have led her to become an advocate for career advancement and increasing opportunities for women. She has made it a life goal to share her career journey and use her platform to create awareness and break the status quo so more women not only enter the industry but also are in an equitable environment where they can thrive and succeed.
Mentoring and leadership
As a professional keynote speaker and for research commissions, Jessy’s work is structured around three central pillars.
